Welcome To The Home of Barker College & Bungan Boaties |

Dear Members.
The 2009/2010 season is shaping up to be one of the best the club has seen in years in Surfboat Competition.
This month the Masters crew competes at the World Masters Titles to be held at Manly NSW..
They have been training all winter and last week they looked razor sharp!
There is a totally new look Open Men's Crew this season with some very talented and well credentialed still water Rowers who are making the move over to the surf with my newly formed Crew.
I predict that by mid season this Crew will be turning heads, because with this quantity of fresh talent we can't help, but do well.
You can't coach talent, but we can coach talented rowers to handle the surf.
Last years very successful Junior Crew will be moving up a age category and into the Men Colts division (Under 23) and
start training this week.
This will be a big step up, rowing against the fastest and fittest crews in the country, which will be a steep learning curve
ahead for these young men.
Some other very exciting news for the club is that our younger Barker College student Members of Bungan Beach SLSC have taken an interest in learning to row Surfboats and have been doing some training in the winter months.
Aaron Reilly who has stroked our Open Men’s Crews for the last decade has always showed promise and natural
ability as a Surfboat Sweep and is taking James, Angus, Nick and Luke in one Junior Crew, while I am taking Callum,
the two Stuart’s and Jacque in the other Junior Crew.
I have also been training some very talented young Barker College Women a few times during the winter and hope that Bec,
Kate, Laura and Sophie develop more interest in the upcoming summer months and train for competition in the future.
There are also hopes that some of our very talented Rowers from recent years Open Men Crews may make up a
Reserve Grade Crew for a late run at the 2010 Australian Championships in the New Year.
So, with 5 definite Crews and potentially another 2 Crews, the future is looking good for Bungan Beach Boaties in 2010 !.
Cheers.
